Privacy Policy for Thom Aster’s Page

Last updated: Whenever the surveillance state last updated theirs.

1. The Short Version

I don’t want your data. I want your mind. But since we live in a digital panopticon, a few things do get collected. So let me spell it out.

2. What Gets Collected

When you visit, subscribe, or interact with this page, Substack (not me) may collect:

  • Your email address (if you subscribe)

  • Your IP address, browser type, and general location

  • Interaction data (like opens, clicks, reads)

  • Comments (if you post them, they’re stored)

I do not:

  • Track you across the web

  • Sell your info

  • Harvest anything beyond what Substack automatically collects

If I ever use third-party tools (analytics, mailing services, etc.), I’ll say so, clearly, and give you a chance to opt out.

3. What I Do With It

  • I use your email to send you content. That’s it.

  • If I look at stats, it’s to see what hits and what flops, not to create a profile, feed an ad engine, or sell your soul to marketing firms.

  • If you contact me directly, I’ll read it. I might reply. I won’t share it unless you’re a troll — then I reserve the right to roast it anonymously.

4. Cookies & Tracking

Substack may use cookies. I don’t control those.
If you don’t like that, use a tracker blocker, a VPN, or browse in a tinfoil hat, all are valid choices.

5. Third-Party Links

Occasionally, I may link to outside sites.
I don’t control what they collect or do with your data. Assume every site is a honeypot and proceed accordingly.

6. Your Rights

You can unsubscribe at any time. Every email has a link at the bottom, click it, and you're out. No hard feelings.

If you want to know what Substack has on you, read their policy here, or email them directly.

7. Data Retention

I don’t store your data personally. Substack does. If this page disappears, so does your data from my end.

8. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, I’ll post an update here. I won’t bury it in legalese or sneak it in under the radar.
You’ll know, because I’m not them.

9. Contact

Got questions about privacy? Email me. Politely.
Just know: if you ask to have your data erased, it’s Substack you need to shout at, not me.
